CQC Care Homes

CQC Care Homes Until recently, homes regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC Care Homes) were inspected twice a year, with one announced and another unannounced inspection. CQC have announced that they are changing the timescale between inspections to 3 to 5 years.

RDB compliments the CQC’s inspections and assists homes with their regulatory compliance.

CQC states in its KLOEs, (key lines of enquiry), to achieve an ‘Outstanding’ CQC rating in Effective and Well-led, care homes need to demonstrate they are working towards, or have achieved recognised accreditation.

If care homes are not going to be inspected by the regulator every year, vulnerable residents could be at risk. The following are the new Regulatory time scales:

  • Homes who achieve a good or outstanding CQC rating every 2 - to 2 and half years
  • Homes who achieve a requires improvement CQC rating- annually
  • Homes who achieve an inadequate CQC rating - 6 monthly (Homes receiving an inadequate rating may also have their Local Authority contracts suspended)

Our star rating is an excellent way for care homes to show independent evidence to the public, local authorities, banks, insurance companies and CQC, how they provide safe, effective, responsive, compassionate, high-quality care to their vulnerable residents.
