About Us

The RDB Star Rating system was designed specifically to assess the level of care and services delivered in a residential care establishment and to drive up standards. This benchmarking scheme was initiated to help manage the care sector at a time of crisis and to give recognition to those organisations that offer a high standard of care. Furthermore, the scheme allows local authorities to divert resources and placements towards quality providers.

RDB products and assessments are based on the principles of best practice benchmarking. Since its inception in 1997, RDB has become the first company in the UK to be accredited by UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Service), as an inspection body, to the International Standard ISO/IEC 17020:2012 for Adult Social Care.

The RDB detailed assessment tool was designed on the basis of the key factors that impact on the lives of clients in the care home. This client focused approach encompasses a diverse range of care standards, ranging from the way personal care is delivered to the management of personnel.
